PRELIMINARY PROGRAM 

Tuesday 10th September, Bergen - Nairobi

Departure from Bergen BGO 10th September 0635 (KL1111), arrival Amsterdam 08.30. Departure Amsterdam 11.50 (KL565), arrival Nairobi 22.00. 


On arrival you are met by your safari driver guide who are waiting for you at the international arrival wing. We will drive directly to our guesthouse.

Wednesday 11th September, Sightseeing in Nairobi

After breakfast, you can take a short walk on site. Here is the Norwegian school for Norwegian missionaries, and their administration.


We start this first day in Kenya with sightseeing in Nairobi. The capital of Kenya. Here the contrasts are great. Skyscrapers and modern buildings are not far from the slums. We stop for lunch at For You restaurant. After lunch we drive back to our guesthouse for relaxation. Dinner in Asmara restaurant.

Thursday 12th September, Kitui

Today we are driving to Kitui. The distance is 150 km and takes approx. 4 hours depending on the traffic. The drive itself is an experience and will give you an insight into what daily life is like out in the countryside. We stop  at Wamunyo to visit a woodcarving factory. Here you can see how they make their carvings, with simple tools. They are proud of their job and are always ready for a chat when it comes visitors. They make beautiful African animals.


In Kitui town we stop at Kitui Villa for lunch. From Kitui we drive to Flamingo farm in Kwa Wasya village. A distance of 13 km. Flamingo farm is Daniels home. We will stay in a nice guesthouse, and expeerience real Africa.

Friday 13th September, Visit Kitui School for the Mentally Handycapped 

After breakfast we will drive to Kitui Town to visit a school for Mentally Handycapped.  

We will meet the staff and the students. They just love visitors. 


Lunch at Kitui Villa and dinner at Flamingo farm.

Saturday 14th September, Kwa Wasya Village Be a Kamba for a day

After breakfast we will interact with the locals for different activities. We start to meet some of the 60 women who receive support from Help to Selfhelp in Africa to run their own small business. Kanini Woman Group who makes traditional baskets, and ladies who have a micro-farm and sells vegetables.


After lunch a group of children will come to the farm. They meet every Saturday to read and speak english. The Reading Circle children are served a warm meal before they go home in the afternoon.

Sunday 15th September, Kitui School for Mentally Handycapped

Breakfast at Flamingo farm at 9 am.


New visit to Kitui School for Mentally Handycapped. After visiting the shcool we will do sightseeing-by-foot in Kitui town.

    Monday 16th September, Kwa Wasya – Naivasha

    Today we must say goodbye to our friends in Kwa Wasya. Breakfast at Flamingo farm before we start our drive up to Lake Naivasha in Rift Valley. We will have lunch at Chania falls.

    Tuesday 17th September,  Naivasha

    You will start before breakfast with a 1-hour guided boat trip on the lake to see hippos, birds, and other wildlife. After breakfast, we will visit a rose factory, before we proceed to Nakuru town.

    Meals: Breakfast and dinner. Lunch at own cost.


    Wednesday 18th September, Full day in Lake Nakuru National Park

    After breakfast, we will go to Lake Nakuru Natona Park. The lake is a salt water lake, and is known for the pink flamingos. Here is white rihnos, Uganda giraffes, leopards, lions and a lot of other animals and birds. There is no elephants in this park.

    Thursday 19th September, Retur to Nairobi

    Today we go back to Nairobi. We arrive in Nairobi lunchtime.

    Friday 20th September, Full day in Nairobi

    After breakfast we drive up to Kitengela Hot Glass Factory to see beautiful art. Today we must prepare for departure. Lunch at Karen Coffee garden before visiting Karen Blixen museum and Kazuri beads factory. 


    Dinner and final packing in Ole Sereni Hotel.


    We drive to the airport 1930. Departure time from Nairobi 23.59 (KL566).


    Saturday 21st September - Back in Norway

    Arrival Amsterdam 07.15. Departure Amsterdam for Bergen 1430 (KL1203), arrival Bergen 1620.
